The Lich King and Raiding

Well, my guild killed Lich King for the first time last night. First time someone survived going downstairs, but it was obvious the people who went downstairs had a hard time stopping the ghost from channeling on the tank down there. How do I know? Lich king went RUGIRTURJGRJKJGR grew, 1 shot our tank and began to run around.

Luckily I Battle'ress'd our secondary tank and somehow arthas was able to be tanked for a second. Then he began to pick the dps off, one by one. We had 5% to go so we did all we could to make sure he hit that 5%. Well yeah, he hit me..we all died, saw the rp..got ressed then got in our free shots and loot.

Now, what does this encounter mean to me?

Nothing. While yay! Another boss down..onto heroic modes! I feel the boss was over hyped about it in terms of difficultly. I feel the fight itself isn't hard. Its basic mechanics with a dps race. You can easily figure out tricks for this fight, or just common knowledge if you want to call it that. However, the hardest part of this fight is getting 24 other people to be "in the zone" as some say..and pay attention and act accordingly for 15 minutes.

Thats right, we died half the time to...DUN DUN DUN..Defile! Or people not assisting the right targets on valkyr so people went over the edge. I admit for attempts before I thought I was to assist one guy, then apparently I didn't hear the change and ended up assisting the wrong target for an entire day. I fixed it as soon as I was told. Not hard. But you can have the same people who run from defile only a little bit. Stand there, start casting while defile just took a tick and grew under them, and now is taking ticks from them.

That is what wiped us most of the time. Even when our healers got picked up by valkyr we still made it look easy. Its just that defile..UH. DEFILE I HATE YOU. Its like "DON'T STAND IN FIRES GUIZES" on Archimonde back in BC. How hard that was to get people to move.

Anyway, Lich is dead and the GM decided to head into ToGC for a chance at some loot that was still needed. Of course we've seen the caster trinket once..ONCE since killing him a few months ago. So a warlock buddy of mine and myself were like "Come on!" Not only that, we are the only ones left in the guild (that I know of) that still needs to get our Insanity achievement.

Yeah..that long. I offered to sit out for the first one, I felt it unfair that I had Death's Demise and no one had a title since we lost Server First Alagon to Vanquish (alliance on our server). So I was like, "Loot always drops, but titles are a once in a server thing..I'll sit out for someone who needs a title"..and so I did. So..they got the titles and I'm like "Grats guys!" now all I need is the achievement for my points and show that I can do it as well.

Next week, Flopped..
Week After, Flop
After that, Flop

So I'm thinking, meh..I'll sit out this time. Since the flopping we did was before Anubarak on stupid stuff. Twins, Faction champs and amazingly even Beasts. So I sat out..then they got it again and I was like "sigh". Now we get to Anubarak all the time with 50 attempts..but you know what?

Yeah, just as you thought. Something always happens. I feel like someone is paying someone to piss me off. One pull, our Paladin tank (we only use 1 tank for the adds and 1 for Anubarak..paladins are op) had a fire drill go off and had to afk in the middle of the fight. Understandable but really bad timing. Another, our tank DC'd on the pull and Anubarak was like "HELLO THERE DPS".

A few others happened just for people forgetting Anubarak still takes you paying attention. And then last night..it was all good. Me and my warlock buddy was like "YAY! Finally!" then a mage in my channel said "Grats Foofy"..then and there was like "You just fucking jynx'd me" And boy was a right. Anubarak spun around and started to beat on people. No one knew what was going on. The Tank was still alive right? Yeah..I even looked to make sure.

Over vent, the tank spoke up. "Uh..I got..Bop'd?" then the whispers between me and the warlock started like "WTF KIDS"..not only that but about 10 guild members whispered me, knowing how long I've been after the achievement and told me next time to stop being so nice and letting people in for me. Of course they said it in a way "You should stay in more and stop being nice" not "HA IDIOT THIS IS WHAT YOU GET" type thing.

Anyway, every week before people would whisper me good luck. I don't think its luck anymore. I just think it will never happen. But what is this achievement to me anyway? Well, I would love to have the achievement. One for the points..the Epeen in me wants over 9000 (lol). The second is the label. Not many people out there can get insanity. Most people have skipped Heroic Anubarak and went straight to ICC so finding someone who has killed Anubarak while using the LFG tool is pretty low. And the last is for me. Myself..knowing I can successfully complete Insanity and not screw up.

Well, rant over and off to Heroic ICC I go!

My Loot List GearSet

As I posted before, my guild uses a Loot Council/List for loot. I've already explained it before but if you didn't catch it, just send me an email and I'll explain it a bit more. But just like last time, I wanted to post the list I created for the Month of Feb.  Here is the set I've come up with.

Helm: Sanctified Lasherweave Helm
Neck: Amulet of Silent Eulogy
Shoulders: Sanctified Lasherweave Shoulders
Back: Lich Wrappings
Chest: Sanctified Lasherweave Vestments
Bracers: The Lady's Brittle Bracers
Gloves: Sanctified Lasherweave Gloves
Belt: Crushing ColdWraith Belt
Legs: Leggings of Woven Death
Boots: Plague Scientist's Boots
Ring 1: Ashen Band of Endless Destruction
Ring 2: Ring of Rapid Ascent
Trinket 1: Muradin's Spyglass
Trinket 2: Reign of the Dead

Rules of the List:

Rules were set forth with this list since we are going to be in the middle of a new boss with the next month and we don't know how far we will get trying to clear heroic. So we was to follow these rules.

1. No more Trial of the Grand Crusader loot
2. You are not allowed to List Loot from Arthas
3. Only able to go up to Heroic Rotface for loot.
4. No 10man loot allowed on this list (I added the cloak in there so you can see which I was going for)

Why this list?
Well, I decided I wanted my 4pc t10. However, I wanted to keep the Leggings of Woven death. Due to this, Hitcap was going to be under if I went for the Cloak I wanted off Dreamwalker. So to fix that, I went for her 10man version to keep myself Hitcapped. I didn't put down the heroic Version of the Boots either since I'm definitely not the only person after them and we are only allowed 12 slots, in which I added the heroic Vanq Tokens in.

And trinkets, oh god. Don't get me started on trinkets. Anub'arak has only dropped 1 Heroic Version of the Reign and we never saw another. We are terrible with loot, all we get is melee stuff.

Final Stats of this Set(Includes Gemming):
Spellpower: 3622
Crit: 1088
Haste: 864
Hit:  287

Final stats may be incorrect, but shouldn't be completely off.

Death to the Blood Queen!

Yeah, of course I'm gonna post about this! Why wouldn't I? This is a massive dps race!

I wont lie, icecrown isn't hard. Only thing hard is learning fights you never seen with an attempt counter of 10/15. Alot of guilds are running their alts through first to learn the fights, then using the mains for the real attempts. We however don't have geared alts for that (Trying to start up a 25m ICC alt run every week though..I'm a terrible ret :P )

Anyway, We played with this boss only on 10m on the PTR. We kept hitting her enrage around 1-2%. This was in gear before we killed Anub'arak 25m Heroic. So we wasn't really geared. So we should have no issue with her in 10m. However, 25man..OH ELUNELY. You can really bite the bucket on this fight if something goes wrong.

Someone biting the wrong person and people freaking out. Dps not getting bite first, Someone dcing (We had 2 people dc in the same fight..oi) and with them dcing and us wiping, we was afraid they would log in and pull the boss, wasting another attempt. Which I'm sure several people have seen done. Hell, our Feral druid afk ran into Putricide wasting an attempt. And yes, hes the joke of the guild in terms of everyone making fun of him.

Anyway, back to Queen..I sat out for our first Putricide kill since alot of people wanted loot off him and movement kills moonkin dps. Especially with our strat. We have everyone switch sides between oozes so we are always at max distance. So I never get to just stand and cast (would be nice though). Blood Queen however. I can stand and cast for the longest time. I love it! A few attempts I was peaking 10k without bloodlust, pot, Bite, or anything. Then of course there was other times she thought it would be funny to continuely give me the purple fire debuff or link me with 3 other people. Overall, I'm happy with my dps on this fight. Though I could have done better, but looking over the fight, I had stuff that interfered so it wasn't bad play on my part.

Phase 2 is a short time of dps loss, just because of being feared and maybe moving away from people. Either way, it went well when people learned to do what they was supposed to.

Anyway, like I said. I'm overall happy with how I did. And since I had a few people ask me, here is our Guild's Blood Queen Kill Parse!

Happy hunting in Icecrown!

Recruitment Video

I decided to cure my boredom last night when Our GM decided to announce we was opening recruitment again. We have 2 raiders who have left/are unable to raid due to real life, and with 2 others out for a few days, we want to try and keep a good makeup for the progression we are currently working on. So, yeah, I know..this isn't really moonkin related, but I enjoyed making the video anyway :D

Its over

Finally, its over. We killed Yogg-Saron.

This fight is definitely the step up in difficulty that many raiders including myself was looking forward to. This fight needs to be executed right or you can wipe over a hundred times to phase 1. Yeah, we did wipe about 45 times in phase 1 because for 22 wipes, we had no idea that running through the clouds would spawn more adds. We figured it was part of the fight, especially since there wasn't any strats out that we could find.

Well, we bunkered down, watched an awesome video of a Warrior explaining the fight as they killed him and then, came up with a plan of our own. It only took about 4 times going into Phase 3 to bring out a Win.

Overall, our melee kept getting Mc'd, but it was nice to kill Azamath for once. He made me run out and get food when it was totally his turn!

Either way, I fraps'd the whole fight, he did as well so I'm rendering the movie now and will post it on here as soon as possible.

I hope everyone who has a chance to see Yogg will enjoy the fight! Its really fun! Wiping is fun too when you try to kill people (its Felmyst all over again! GET YOUR REVENGE NOW!)

3.1 Patch Notes--Ulduar

The patch notes are currently released and while they are not the full notes or finalized, several million people are pissed with the current state of every class in the game. From the looks of it, everything got nerfed down the board. Everything but Survival Hunters.

Anyway, lets touch base with the moonkin notes shall we?

  • Owlkin Frenzy is now properly considered an Enrage effect. Now also does not trigger from spell hits, only physical ranged and melee attacks.

So, whats it? This is all the peek that moonkin get at this time. A double nerf with only one post. Excellent in the best regards blizzard, just excellent. Owlkin frenzy was useful in PVE during large AE fights if you had the extra points and wanted to have a little fun. In PVE is was our best defense with spell pushback, as well as damage increase to hopefully get something off us.

So, with it nerfed into the ground, PVE will just move the points elsewhere while PVP cries on the inside and finally respec's feral or resto. Why wouldn't they respec? Moonkin still has no survivilability in PVP period.

Oh wait...Guess what resto got!? IMP BARKSKIN! Thats right folks! Midway in the resto tree is a talent called Imp Barkskin! Congrats you guys! Though personally, only thing I see that I like in the notes right now is this:

  • Plague Strike and Blood Plague no longer remove hots. Plague Strike’s damage increased quite a bit to compensate.

Yup, thats a great thing right there. Druids all over are cheering for this. Finally, we don't just have to stand there making baskets out of dried grass while waiting for death when we see a Death Knight coming at us. We actually will be able to heal!

Anyway, we all know these patchnotes are subject to change, and one change we all see coming is the removal of our RNG stun from Celestial Focus. BlackOut from priests was removed, so its time to take away out last stun.

So thats it. Hopefully the notes bring more promise as PTR goes on.

For those who are on PTR, you can find me as Grandstorm on the PVE server incase anyone wants to chat or just randomly dance naked with me outside instances.

Glyph of Focus (Patch 3.0.8)

Welcome to the buggy patch of 3.0.8! Starfail has been nerfed and everyone around the world is dropping it! New Moonfire animation! (PEWPEWZ LAZER BEAMS) and everything is buggy or just not working!

What a wonderful day of Warcraft! Wouldn't you agree? Anyway, the patch has been out for a few days now. When the patch first came out, there was an issue with Wintersgrasp crashing the server. Each time the game was won, it sent out an infinite buff to everyone, causing the server to overload and crash (every server in the game mind you)..when the servers would come back up, the game was reset and people would try to take it again.

Honor farmers enjoyed this time while people in Northrend couldn't stop dcing from the for hours on end. It was terrible. Raiders were afraid to wipe and had soulstones and everything ready at hand for wipe recovery.

Malygos learned to fart so he was killing people behind him, let alone they added a larger range to his arcane breath..which apparently was chaining off hunter pets and ghouls, causing raid wipes. He also has targeting issues in phase 2 where you couldn't target him and he'd just melee you after a vortex. There is also no more stacking of sparks to dps him from 50%-0 with a bloodlust. Sparks now have a timer which is shared with their pools when they die and give us the buff.

Anyway, to the point at hand. With this patch came a new Glyph..Glyph of Focusing! This glyph increased your Starfail damage by 20% but decreased its range by 50%. This glyph however is a major glyph and not something worth picking up. Why do you say? With the 50% decrease, you only get 18 yards to use it with. Pretty much you will need to stand on the boss and pewpew. Which is a bad thing.

Closer to the boss means more agroo, let alone if that boss has a cleave, breath, tailwhip or anything like that, you'd be screwed. Anyway..for sheer curiousity we was quick to look into the numbers it would give.

Here are the numbers given by Wisprunner after I pointed the topic out. He did a 50% increase of damage and a 20% increase.

ok 20% increase.

600 average hit. 20% of that is 120, so 720 a hit for 15 hits is 10,800

1324 average crit. 20% of that is 265 (rounded up. 264.8 is the actual number), so 1589 per average crit for a total of 7945 with the 5 crits from my parse.

combine all that to get 18,745 so it's not even a 3 dps increase if I did that conversion right (which I don't think I did, I never remember that conversion, someone correct me if I'm wrong) over what my starfall did for me on the fight.

standing on the boss for 3 dps...umm...no thanks.

-----------------------------------------------

Here is the 50% increase numbers

Take the last time you used Starfail on a single target mob (patchwerk, Instructor etc.) from a wws report, and just take the average hit, take 50% of that, add it, and that's what the hit would have done. take the total number of hits you had on that mob, and do simple addition from there.

That's how much glyphed starfail would have done.

For instance, the last time I did patchwerk25 and had starfail the average hit of my starfail was ~600 (rounded up for ease of math) 50% of that is another 300. so 900 a hit. 900 a hit for 15 hits is 13,500.

average crit was 1324, 50% of that is 662, add that on and we get 1986, 1986 average crit at 5 crits total makes 9,930

Grand total 23,400 compared to the 15,541 that the parse had. That was on two uses as well since the kill was a laughable 3:27.

23,400 would still have been half of what IS (next lowest total damage ability) was. so starfall would have added roughly 30 dps to my total of 3857 (hooray 30% wrath crit) instead of the 23ish I got that night.

----------------------------------------------

Though from his personal point of few, his numbers still show what type of increase you would see. 3 or 7 dps..doesn't matter..for 1 talent point isn't going to make this talent, but break it really. You could put that talent point anywhere else you like. Even pick up IMP Moonfire..or something. Me..I dropped it. I won't lie. I picked up 2/2 Gale Winds and put 1 point in Owlkin frenzy since I really have nothing else to do with my points. I have no mana regen talents or anything and I'm never oom in fights.

If you have no issues with mana you can always make your tree to your liking..always remember that. The 55/0/16 spec is just a basic spec for raiding if you have mana issues. Anyway, enough rambling from me. I hope this post will help people still confused on the glyph if they wish to take it or not.
