The change to starfall is this:
Old coefficient: 4.8%
New coefficient: 37%
Old coefficient: 1.2%
New coefficient: 13%
Now, what does this mean to people who hate numbers? (like myself). Well Hamlet at TMR/EJ decided to create a post on this.
First of all, this is a significant DPS increase. Around 7% in my current gear (I'm not quite seeing the 800 Erdluf posted, more like 650). I wouldn't say it's overpowered; my impression is that it will lift Moonkin from the low end of hybrids to hopefully the middle of the pack. It's not entirely ideal that the buff comes in the form of Starfall, a spell that's awkward to use efficiently at some encounters, but I think we should be pretty happy. We were warned that it would be a PvP-oriented change, and we're all pleasantly surprised by the sheer magnitude of it anyway.
He continues on to say that this puts the Starfall Glyph over the IS glyph. Which I highly agree with. With the damage increase, you definitely will see an improvement using SF over IS with your glyphing priorities. The next part he talks about the Glyph of Focus, which increases your damage but cuts the distance your starfall can hit from in half. While This would be good on fights where you are not constantly moving, I find it would be best to stay away from it on movement fights.
Fights such as Lich King where I use Starfall on the Vile Spirits would of course be effected. Oh, and those wondering, its still safe to cast IS on a boss. It doesn't mean to cut it completely from the rotation. Of course there is still much to be had and I personally hate math. Thats right. I'm a theorycrafter who hates math! GO ME! Anyway, there is some huge Snowstorm coming and I need to hit up the market for being snowed in this weekend. So I will try to keep this information up to date as Hamlet, Murmurs, Smo, and Graylo start punching out the numbers. But in my opinion, the best glyph strategy with IceCrown due to the movement will be Starfire, Starfall, Moonfire.
